One of the ideas on our bug list is that we have biodiesel buses on campus. On campus we use quite a lot of buses during the school day, not to mention the buses we use to transport students from their homes. With gas prices at $5/gal, it is a ridiculous amount of money to power these buses for daily use in transporting students from lower campus to upper campus. To help this problem I think it would be a great idea to have biodiesel buses. I researched this and schools actually have biodiesel buses. Some of the benefits of biodiesel is that it is cleaner burning and a safer alternative to petroleum diesel. It can be made from vegetable oils and/or animal fats.
This website shows schools that have switched over to biodiesel buses: http://www.biodiesel.org/markets/sch/
